She is a visual artist graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, who is dedicated to contemporary painting through research into classical techniques: the artist uses, for example, rabbit glue as the structure and base of all her canvases. He has participated in group exhibitions at institutions such as Fundação Iberê Camargo (2021), Museum of Contemporary Art MACRS (Paisagens em Dois Tons, 2018), Instituto de Artes Visuais IEAVi (Fora da Cor, 2021) and presented his first solo exhibition, Existencia , at the Centro Cultural Santa Casa (Porto Alegre, 2019).
Blood flows on the earth
The landscape and the horizon are recurring themes in Cristie’s production.
The painting series “Blood flows on the earth” presents 12 canvases that explore the intensity of cadmium red. The distances – physical and symbolic – are suggested by the overlapping of the layers, achieving the balance between the silence of the white canvases and the dramatic red earth.
Based on linen, the canvases are prepared through a classic process that combines rabbit glue with natural elements. On the background, the artist applies pigments extracted from minerals, creating nuances and textures that are both complex and delicate at the same time.
